From time to time I’ll get into a discussion about the need for documented business processes when you have ‘talent’ in the business.
I think it is a comforting thought. Hire a few good people and the need for systemisation and control goes away.
I like people that are good at what they do. However, I often find that approach ends up something like the top half of the image below:

So, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) get my vote every time. Even smart people need some structure to work off if there is more than just them in the organisation.

If you find that documenting your processes is something that takes too long. I recommend checking out Scribe.
I’ve used it quite a bit recently with consulting clients and I have been staggered at how quick it was to create a library of SOPs.
You can claim a free account at their website.
Scribe reached out to me and offered me an affiliate link. So, for complete transparency – if you upgrade to a paid subscription I will receive a payment.
I hope you find it to be useful. It has been a game changer for my clients.
